As a marketer for a small business, you’ve got your hands in all sorts of marketing strategies. From product marketing to content creation, social media marketing to event marketing, to joint marketing with others businesses…. you know what I’m talking about.
So why would you want to and add video marketing in your full hand?
While it may seem that adding yet another marketing medium to your mix will complicate your life, the payoff on this one is enormous (when done right) and if you need to reprioritize to find a way to fit this in, then you need to find a way to reprioritize.
Video marketing for small businesses generates awareness, educates potential customers, builds demand, creates engagement, shortens sales cycles, etc.
YouTube is the second largest search engine used on the planet (Google being the first). It is not the case that by publishing videos to YouTube you decrease Google visitors by gaining YouTube visitors. You increase your total number of visitors who arrive from search, as you’re attracting visitors from what I’ll be so bold as to call “the other” dominate search engine.
The following are some of the reasons why you as a small business should add videos to your marketing.
Higher rank in search engines
While Google doesn’t publish the details of their search algorithm, people who reverse engineer the algorithm agree that time on page is a search signal and a ranking factor. Video is a great way to keep people on the page for 60, 90, or 120 seconds, which is longer than most people stay on most webpages.
This increases your search rankings on google and other search engines significantly.
People are able to understand your product/service even more.
Sometimes products are complex and describing what it does in only a few sentences on your home page will work for some, a short video will work for more people.
Create your product overview video of what is, the problem it solves, how it solves it, and the benefits realized by people (and businesses) who use it.
Videos boost email click-throughs
Increase your open rate by 7% by just including the word video in your email subject line. By including the actual video in your email, you double the click through rate.
Builds stronger brand relationship
Video stimulates us through two dominate senses, seeing and hearing. We tend to retain useful information we take in via video better than we retain similar information taken in by reading.
.
Using videos in your website means your audience is more engaged and develop stronger affiliation and interest in the information they’re seeing (and hearing).
